She also she launched the Marya Welch Initiative for Women’s Athletics, which provides special project support for the campus' 16 women’s athletic programs. Gullett’s first role at UC Davis was as the assistant director of regional giving, raising major gifts for the university, and stewarding donors across the country who support a variety of areas.

Before arriving to UC Davis, Gullett was the Assistant Director of Development at the University of Florida's College of Education, and spent time in athletics at Clemson, Cal, and Tennessee.
