Courtney Randall was hired in the spring of 2022 as the Associate Athletics Director for Diversity Equity and Inclusion. Randall will also serve as the Chief Diversity Officer.
As the Associate Athletics Director for Diversity Equity and Inclusion, Randall will be responsible for serving as the Chief Diversity Officer for Aggie Athletics. As a member of the senior staff, Randall will lead departmental training, education, and supportive resources in the areas of DEI for student-athletes, coaches and staff in the Aggie Athletics program. Randall will also collaborate with UC Davis administrators and programs to help further UC Davis’ strategic vision for DEI.
Since taking over UC Davis' DEI program, Randall has seen a significant growth in the impact made by the UC Davis DEI office. Including spearheading the re-ignition of UC Davis Athletics' DEI Committee to Empower Departmental Culture and Strategy. Randall has also been part of growing the outreach of UC Davis Athletics' DEI office, which included the Aggie staff taking part in the first Inclusion Exposure Tour in June of 2024.
In his role as the Director of Tiger Life at Louisiana State University, Randall served student-athletes through designing and implementing programming in the areas of career preparation, community engagement, diversity and inclusion, and character development.
While at LSU, Randall was able to make a significant impact quickly, supporting several new programs and initiatives. Some accomplishments of note include, conceptualizing and rebranding LSU’s student-athlete development program, Tiger Life, designing the Tiger Life website, advising the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, and growing the Tiger Life unit to include an assistant director, two graduate assistants, and two student staffers,
Randall was heavily involved in helping to create a more inclusive experience for student-athletes and staff at LSU, serving on the Athletics Leadership Council for Diversity Equity and Inclusion, helping to create and advise LSU’s Black Student-Athlete Association, and introducing the HEARD series, a town-hall style program platforming student-athletes and staff on critical topics related to social justice and cultural competency.
Before his time at LSU, Randall spent more than four years at Washington State University, where he served as the Coordinator of Career and Leadership Development. While with the Cougars, Randall played a key role in building WSU's Student-Athlete Development program. Randall's core responsibilities included organizing and executing the yearly career development programming, overseeing student-athlete involvement in major and semester-long civic engagement projects, advising the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, teaching the University 295: Introduction to Models of Leadership course and facilitating the first-year student-athlete seminar.
Randall also led the Career Development Workgroup made up of select WSU Athletics staff members tasked with outlining a comprehensive career development plan for student-athletes. Signature programs introduced by the Career Development Workgroup included the Passport to Careers event series, the Women's Leadership Panel, the Student-Athlete Industry Tour, and Networking Night.
In his work focused on promoting Diversity and Inclusion amongst student-athletes, Randall assisted the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee with executing their first-annual International Student-Athlete Welcome event, served as a Co-Advisor to the Black Student-Athlete Association, and helped coordinate WSU Athletics' first student-athlete trip to the Black Student-Athlete Summit at the University of Texas at Austin.
Prior to his stint at Washington State, Randall served as an Athletics Diversity Council graduate assistant for the University of Oklahoma Athletics Department. While at Oklahoma, Randall completed a Masters of Education degree in Adult and Higher Education, with an emphasis in Intercollegiate Athletics.
Randall was a four-year letterwinner at the University of Nevada from 2006-10, playing on what is arguably the program's most notable football team, which finished ranked No. 11 in the AP Poll in 2010. Randall completed his Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology, followed by a Master of Arts degree in Counseling and Educational Psychology.
