Chris Peterson

Chris Peterson joined UC Davis in January 2023 as an Assistant Sports Performance Coach, working with football, field hockey, softball, swim, and dive.

Peterson came to Davis after a stint at Valparaiso University. In his role as Assistant Sports Performance Coach, Peterson assisted with football and oversaw all aspects of sports performance with softball, women’s golf, and women’s soccer. Peterson managed the GPS tracking for the football team.

Prior to Valpo, Peterson has had experiences at Maryland, Aurora (IL), and Central Michigan, working with various teams, including football in all experiences.

At Maryland, Peterson worked in the football sports science department, operating Catapult, VALD force plates and Nordbord.

At Aurora, Peterson worked with every team during his tenure as the strength and conditioning graduate assistant. Peterson was primarily responsible for programming for men’s lacrosse, women’s hockey, women’s basketball, men’s and women’s golf, men’s soccer, and softball.

Central Michigan provided Peterson with his first Division I football experience when he was a member of the staff in 2021 offseason. During his time in Mount Pleasant, Peterson operated Catapult and assisted in all aspects of football’s offseason training and nutrition.

Peterson has managed and operated a wide range of sport technologies such as velocity-based training (Tendo/Enode), Bod Pod, force plates, Nordbord, and GPS (Catapult/SPT).

Peterson has a Bachelor’s from Grand Valley State (MI) and a Master’s from Aurora (IL), both in Exercise Science.
