Athena Koehler is in her second season of volunteer assistant coach with UC Davis Gymnastics. She was originally a member of the Gymnastics team in 2021, her freshman year of college. Koehler moved into the volunteer assistant coach position her second year in 2022 thanks to Tanya Ho believing that she could help coach and make the team a better environment. Her expertise is in floor and vault, and she assists on the choreography for floor.
The Santa Rosa Native grew up with her mom as one of the head coaches of Redwood Empire Gymnastics and her dad being involved with EMT for many gymnastics meets, so gymnastics has been a constant in her life for as long as she can remember. She also grew up dancing and has 10 years of experience in that area.Â
Koehler is a current UC Davis pursuing her undergraduate degree in Wildlife, Fish, and Conservation Biology.Â
