HONORS & AWARDS
• 2021 Big West Conference All-Academic Team

2021: Finished the year with an 8-17 overall record, ranking fourth on the team in wins… Split time between three spots in the lineup: finished 1-1 at the twos, 7-14 at the threes, and 0-2 at the fours… The seven wins at the threes were a team high… Opened with her first win of the year along with Rose Holscher on March 6 against a nationally receiving votes Saint Mary’s squad, taking a three-set victory at the threes… Joined Holscher for another three-set win, this time over No. 11 California, at the threes on March 23… Posted back-to-back wins at the threes with teammate Jane Seslar against Colorado Mesa and Missouri State in straight sets on April 3, and again won two straight against San Jose State and Sacramento State at the threes on April 18 and April 24, respectively, in straight sets… Added victories with Seslar against the Spartans on April 11 and CSU Bakersfield in the opening round of the Big West Conference Championships on April 30… Shared the team lead with two, three-set victories on the year.

2020: Finished 2-2 overall at the No. 5 spot in the lineups during the shortened 2020 campaign, and 2-0 in a pair of exhibition matches… Posted a win in her season debut with teammate Demari Webb against Santa Clara in straight sets and added an exhibition win with Webb against Ottawa in the very next match… Also posted a win with Webb at No. 5 in a UC Davis win over Utah, and teamed with Webb for an exhibition win over San Jose State (3/7).

2019: Appeared in one match alongside partner Demari Webb against No. 11 California on March 9.

APTOS HS '18: Graduated from Aptos High in 2018 after attending Shasta HS (Redding, Calif.) as a freshman and sophomore... Garnered first-team All-Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League honors in each of junior and senior seasons... Team captured SCCAL and Central Coast Section titles each year... Voted team captain and team MVP for basketball team... Played indoor club ball for North State Academy and beach for Main Beach VBC... Made Costa Rican U18 national team in 2016.

PERSONAL: Born in Redding, Calif.... Biological sciences major, with plans on going to medical school and becoming a physician... Parents are Eric Smith and Linette Calvo... Both parents were collegiate athletes: Eric in football, Linette in cross country/track... Holds dual citizenship with Costa Rica (see above) and spoke Spanish as her first language... Has one older brother, Marcus (22).
