2009 & 2010: Did not compete.
2008: Placed 6th in steeplechase (9:19.97) at Big West Conference Championships... Had team[apos]s top three times, including season-best 9:15.87 at UC Irvine[apos]s Steve Scott Invitational... Also ran open 3K (8:29.97) and 5K (15:39.02) during season.
CROSS COUNTRY: Earned All-West Region (20th) and All-Big West Conference (3rd) as a senior... Placed 2nd behind teammate Jonathan Peterson at Hornet Jamboree... Selected as UC Davis[apos] male representative for Big West Scholar-Athlete of the Year for 2010-11... Appeared in four meets as a junior, including NCAA West Regional (87th) and Big West Conference (30th)... Placed 21st at conference as a sophomore... Scored team points in all six appearances in 2008... Raced three times as a freshman.
MARIA CARRILLO HS [apos]07: Placed 22nd (16:12) at CIF state cross country meet as a senior... Finished as North Coast Section runner-up as a senior (15:26)... Team won section titles in each of his junior and senior seasons... Won North Bay League and NCS Redwood Empire titles in 3,200 during track season... Set PR times of 9:25 in 3,200; 4:31 in 1,600... Graduated summa cum laude, with 4.5 grade-point average.
PERSONAL: Born in Santa Rosa, Calif.... Majoring in evolution, ecology and biodiversity... Parents are Greg & Kristin Thigpen... Proudest personal accomplishment was studying in Costa Rica.
