2011: Appeared in 3,000 and 5,000 twice each... Hit 3K best of 8:40.04 at Cal Opener... Best 5K time was 15:07.49 at Brutus Hamilton.
CROSS COUNTRY: Raced six times as a redshirt freshman in 2011, including Big West Conference Championship (59th) and NCAA West Regional (131st)... Redshirted in 2010.
GRANADA HS [apos]10: Placed 3rd at 2008 North Coast Section meet to earn trip to state championship, where he finished 52nd... Improved from 8th-placing showing at sections in 2007... Two-time team MVP in cross country... Three-year qualifier for NCS Meet of Champions in track, twice in 3,200 (placing 7th in 2008, 10th in 2009); once in 1,600 (6th in 2010)... Earned team[apos]s Distance MVP award all three years.
PERSONAL: Born in Pleasanton, Calif.... Majoring in biomedical engineering... Parents are James & Cecily Summers... Among the feats he[apos]d like to accomplish by the time he[apos]s 30 years old: climb Mount Kilimanjaro.
