Greg Clink begins his ninth season on the UC Davis bench, and his second in which he bears the title of associate head coach. He assists in all facets of the men[apos]s program. His intimate knowledge of the university, campus, and city of Davis make him an invaluable asset to the coaching staff.
In addition to his coaching duties, Clink also serves as a instructor in the exercise biology department at UC Davis.
This marks the second Aggie stint and third head coach for Clink, who first joined the UC Davis coaching staff in 1996-97 as an assistant to Bob Williams. The Aggies finished 20-9 that year, winning the Northern California Athletic Conference championship and advancing to the NCAA Division II West Regional.
After serving the 1997-98 season as head coach at Gavilan College in Gilroy, Calif., Clink rejoined Williams[apos] staff when the former Aggie coach was named head coach at UC Santa Barbara in 1998. UCSB finished 15-13 in 1998-99, winning the Big West Conference[apos]s West Division championship, and went 14-14 in 1999-2000, finishing second in the division.
Clink was reunited with the UC Davis program for the 2000-01 season, serving as Brian Fogel[apos]s top assistant.
Clink graduated from Chico State in 1994. He played for the Wildcats for two years following a two-year stint at Gavilan College. Clink earned Chico State Basketball[apos]s Most Inspirational award in 1994. Clink experienced a great deal of success at Chico, winning two NCAC Championships, while advancing to the NCAA Western Regional Championships in 1992-1993. Immediately following his playing career at Chico, Clink served as an assistant to head coach Puck Smith for two seasons. During this time, he completed his master[apos]s degree in physical education.
He and his wife, Courtney, were married in the summer of 2002 and reside in Dixon. The couple has three sons: twins Justin and Tyler, and younger brother, Ryan, who was born in January 2006.
