Former Aggie Carolyn Kampf enters her 11th year on the gymnastics coaching staff in 2019, now working primarly with the vault and floor squads. In both 2011 and 2013, her efforts were rewarded with MPSF Assistant Coach of the Year co-honors.
In 2014, Kampf's efforts helped the Aggies score four of their 10 highest vault team scores in school history, including a school-record 49.050 in a home quad meet on January 26. That served as one of many highlights in a landmark season that saw UC Davis amass a program-record RQS of 195.260 and earn its first team berth to the NCAA postseason since 1998.
A year later, Tiana Montell and Katy Nogaki each tied the individual UC Davis vault record of 9.900 twice each. Under Kampf's tutelage, the Aggies notched seven of the all-time top 10 vault scores in that 2015 season, including the record of 49.250 in a home dual with Washington on March 13, 2015.
Kampf's floor exercise squad also set a school record (49.450) in that dual with the Huskies. More recently, the Aggies hit such floor marks of 49.250 and 49.350 during the 2017 season, also among the program's top 10.
Originally from All-Olympians Gymnastics Center and Palisades Charter High in Los Angeles, Kampf lettered four years at UC Davis, competing primarily on bars and floor in her final two seasons. She enjoyed a career-best meet against Seattle Pacific on a senior, scoring personal highs of 9.775 on bars and 9.850 on floor in the meet.
Kampf, who graduated in 2007 with a psychology degree, also captured MPSF All-Academic honors as a junior and senior. She later earned an M.S. degree in counseling with a specialization in career counseling from Sacramento State in 2010.
In addition to her coaching duties, Kampf served as an academic skills specialist for the Aggie athletics department.
