A standout during her career as a student-athlete at Indiana University, Ann Arbor, Michigan native,
Sydney Supica, joins the UC Davis field hockey program in her first season as an assistant coach in 2018.

Supica joins the Aggies after completing two seasons as a graduate assistant coach for the women’s field hockey program at Central Michigan, where she also obtained a master’s degree in sports administration. Prior to joining the Chippewa staff, Supica graduated from Indiana in 2016 with a bachelor's degree in liberal arts in addition to minoring in human development and family studies, and counseling and psychology.
As a Big Ten defender for Indiana, Supica finished off her career on a high note as she earned spots on the NFHCA Division 1 All-West Region Second Team and All-Big Ten Second Team, garnered a Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week nod, and was selected to the Victory Sports Tours/NFHCA Division 1 Senior Game. As a mainstay in the Hoosiers’ defensive line, Supica’s seven defensive saves in her senior season ranked her tied for 6th in the NCAA and helped the Hoosiers to several regulation shutouts. Across her 70 career games, Supica started in 66, tallying a total of 43 points on seven assists and 18 goals, including four game-winners.
"From the time I first started playing field hockey, I was fortunate to develop very strong relationships with my coaches," said Supica. "They provided a support system for me both on and off the field which was something I always looked up to. Then as I began coaching and working with younger generations, I realized how much I loved giving back to the sport of field hockey and having the opportunity to be the same person that other people have been for me," Supica added.
"As an assistant coach at UC Davis I hope to share my love for the sport and help student-athletes realize how much field hockey can benefit their futures outside the context of athletics, in regards to jobs, internships, and other opportunities. As a mentor, my goal is to do whatever I can to help student-athletes pursue their passions and ultimately help push them in the direction they want to go," Supica said.
"Even after being here for just one week, I have already met so many welcoming people in the community. The team has been nothing short of amazing and I am really looking forward to getting to know everyone and be a part of the UC Davis family.”
