After serving as a volunteer assistant during the shortened 2020-21 season, alumna Bobbie Piddock has joined the UC Davis equestrian staff as an assistant western coach for the 2021-22 campaign.

“We are very lucky to have Bobbie as an assistant western coach,” Weisinger said. “As a student-athlete, she was a hard worker and consistently pushed herself and others to be better, was a role model to her fellow teammates, and is extremely dedicated to the sport.

“This past season, she was able to balance her graduate school studies while serving as a volunteer coach, and was a huge help in all aspects of the program. I am excited to have her on board and watch her grow as a collegiate coach.”

A team captain for the Aggies in 2019-20 who transferred from UT Martin, Piddock was a two-time Eastern College Athletic Conference Rider of the Week selection and twice earned Most Outstanding Performance honors that year for UC Davis.

The Castro Valley, Calif., native was also named the ECAC Horsemanship Rider of the Month in November and starred in the classroom, picking up all-academic first team honors from both the National Collegiate Equestrian Association and the ECAC, while also earning a spot on the NCEA American Paint Horse Association Academic Honor Roll.

In June of 2020, she was selected to represent UC Davis at the NCAA Careers in Sports Forum

She currently holds the school record in horsemanship with a score of 77.0 against Fresno State on Nov. 15, 2019, to claim meet MOP honors, and set a career high in reining with a score of 70.0 later that season at South Dakota State on Feb. 22, earning her a second MOP award.

Piddock graduated with a bachelor’s degree in psychology in 2020, and is currently pursuing her master’s degree in sports administration from Arkansas State with an expected completion date of August 2021.
