Big Monday For Aggies In CCAA Awards

DAVIS, Calif. - UC Davis captured four of five California Collegiate Athletic Association Athlete of the Week awards, it was announced by the conference on Monday.

Men's soccer goalkeeper Nic Platter, women's soccer goalkeeper Christine Ogden, men's cross country runner Steve Laurie and women's cross country runner Sopagna Eap all captured Athlete of the Week honors for their performances during the week of October 14-20.

Sopagna Eap's 32nd place finish was her first CCAA Athlete of the Week honor for 2002.


Platter posted his sixth shutout of the season in the Aggies 2-0 upset win over No.7 Cal State Dominguez Hills on Sunday, making five saves. Ogden was equally impressive, posting her fifth shutout of the year on Friday against Cal State L.A. in the Aggies 1-0 victory.

Laurie and Eap lead their teams to Top 10 finishes at the Arkansas Chili Pepper Festival, featuring several top collegiate teams. Laurie finished 15th out of 171 runners, guiding UC Davis to a 5th-place finish while Eap was 32nd out of 192 competitors in leading the Aggies to an 8th-place finish.
