DAVIS, Calif. -
Aggie fans are encouraged to participate Saturday in the California Collegiate Athletic Association's "Have A Heart Day" charity event during UC Davis baseball, and men's and women's basketball games.
The conference-wide event is being sponsored by Student-Athlete Advisory Committee representatives as a competition to see which school can collect the most cans of food for a local charity.
Fans who bring three cans of food to the Aggies' baseball doubleheader against Cal St. Stanislaus on Saturday at Dobbins Stadium will receive free admission to the twinbill. Fans who bring three cans of food to either the men's or women's basketball games against Cal St. Stanislaus Saturday night will receive entry into a drawing for a free Kaplan Educational Center test prep course.
UC Davis undergraduates, and others who already receive free admission to baseball games, will receive entries into the drawing.
Food will be collected on campus until February 28 and then distributed to the Samaritan Center in Oak Park Heights. The Samaritan Center is a non-profit food shelf which serves homeless and low-income families in Sacramento and surrounding communities.
The baseball doubleheader begins at noon, the women's basketball game starts at 6 p.m. and the men's begins at 8.
