UC Davis basketball guard Jennifer Decuir was named the Wilson California Collegiate Athletic Association Women's Basketball Player of the Week it was announced Monday while All-America pitcher Amy Rosson was selected the Wilson CCAA Softball Pitcher of the Week.
Decuir, a senior from Long Beach, averaged 16.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 3.5 steals in Aggie wins at Recreation Hall this weekend against Cal State L.A. and Cal State Dominguez Hills. Decuir came off the bench to score 13 points, tally a career-high-tying six steals, record five assists and pick up four rebounds as UC Davis beat Cal State L.A. 75-59.
She followed with a team-high 19 points - including a trio of three-pointers - along with a career-high-tying nine rebounds and six assists to help the Aggies to an 81-74 victory against Cal State Dominguez Hills on Saturday. She was 12 of 23 from the field in the two games.
Rosson, a senior from Los Angeles, earned softball pitching honors after continuing her hot start to the 2004 season. She tossed back-to-back one-hit shutouts last weekend as the Aggies beat Cal State Dominguez Hills and Cal State San Bernardino on Friday and Saturday, respectively.
Rosson posted 10 strikeouts and just one walk in the Aggies' 2-0 win against the Toros before coming within two outs of a perfect game a day later in a 7-0 victory over the Coyotes. She had 15 strikeouts against Cal State San Bernardino, finishing the weekend with 25 in 14.0 innings along with just one walk. Rosson has allowed only four hits in three complete-game wins this season and has yet to allow a run.
