2018: Competed in two games… Ran for two yards, on four rushes, and cash a pass at Stanford (9/15)… Finished with another two rush attempts vs. Idaho (9/22).
2017: Granted a medical hardship... Finished with 16 rush attempts for 15 yards and 2 receptions for 26 yards... Also recorded six returns for 104 yards... Recorded two rushes for six yards and three kick returns for 65 yards (including a 30-yard career-long return) at San Diego State (9/2)... Recorded six rushes for 14 yards and a 15-yard reception against San Diego (9/9), plus one kick return for 19 yards.
2016: Saw action in eight games... Finished with a total of 39 offensive yards... Longest run was 13 yards versus Southern Oregon (9/10)... Recorded three receptions for 16 yards, including an 11-yard catch versus Portland State (11/5).
2015: Played in all 11 games, picking up 186 yards (4.0 avg.)... Gained a season-best 62 yards on 12 carries vs. Montana (10/3), then added 58 yards on 13 rushed at Northern Colorado (10/17)... Season-long 14-yard gain took place against Montana during a third-quarter Aggie drive in which he carried the ball seven times for 46 yards.
WOODCREEK HS '14: Gained 2,308 rushing yards during a three-year varsity career at Woodcreek HS... Also tallied 21 touchdowns, including nine during his junior season and six both as a sophomore and senior... Played six games in 2013 and averaged 112.2 ypg... Responsible for an 85-yard run and scored a pair of TD's against highly rated Folsom HS in the season opener, and finished with 265 yards... Followed that with a 77-yard run against Casa Roble HS the next week... Rushed for 190 yards in that matchup and later had 149 yards against Roseville HS... Averaged 7.7 yards a carry last season... Gained 886 rushing yards in 2012 and 749 yards in 2011... Earned All-Sierra Foothill League first-team honors as a junior and was named offensive MVP... Also competed for Woodcreek's track team... All-league and District Cup champion in the 100, 200 and 4x100... Received Captain Awards for football and track... Received an Army Reserve National Scholar-Athlete Award... Honored with Gold Academic Merit Award for his 3.8 GPA.
PERSONAL: Born in Redwood City, Calif... Parents are Eric and Carla Layton... Enjoys playing guitar and piano... Career highlight was his big game against Folsom HS... Advice to youngsters is to be humble and always smile.
