2021 SPRING: Appeared in all five games, mostly on special teams... Posted all of his offensive stats in home opener with Cal Poly (3/20): 2-for-7 rushing, plus one catch for minus-3 yards.
2019: Played in 10 games, seeing action in backfield and on special teams... Totaled 18 rush yards on 6 carries, plus 2-for-41 on returns... All rushes came at Southern Utah (10/19), while both kick returns were against Montana (9/28)... Joined UC Davis track & field team during offseason but the season was canceled due to COVID-19 precautions.
PREVIOUS COLLEGE: Originally intended to walk on at Arizona State, but a coaching staff change altered such plans... Opted for two-year route at Santa Monica College... Two-year All-American Pacific League second-team pick... Ranked 4th in league with 646 rushing yards as a sophomore... Selected as team's Athlete of the Year in 2018.
BELLEVUE HS '16: Lettered in both football and track (long jump, sprinter)... Team reached Washington state title game in each of his three varsity seasons, claiming the championship in both 2013 and 2014... Wolverines went 14-0, 13-1, 11-3 from sophomore through senior years, respectively... Team did not keep stats.
PERSONAL: Born in Osaka, Japan... Majoring in communication... Parents are Cy Hirota & Ai Higami... Cy played wide receiver at Hawai'i in early 1990s... Proudest accomplishment: being at UC Davis after getting cut by Arizona State, not playing for a full year, then reviving his dream of playing college football at Santa Monica College... Speaks Japanese and holds a black belt in karate.
