2021: BIG WEST CONFERENCE ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM... Lone singles match of the season took place at Saint Mary’s (2/13) when he competed at the No. 6 position… Earned three doubles victories, all at the No. 3 position… Two of those results were earned with Arjith Jayaraman, the other win took place with Chethan Swanson as his partner…Doubles wins with Jayaraman took place against San Francisco (2/20) and Nevada (2/25)… He and Swanson won their doubles match against Hawai’i (4/10)… The team did not participate in any fall events due to COVID-19.
2019-20: Posted best season to date, going 8-8 overall and 3-2 in dual play, primarily at No. 6… Won first two dual matches of the year, including a 6-1, 7-5 win over Nick Cmager of Santa Clara to boost the Aggies to just the third win over the Broncos since 1996… Went unfinished against Washington’s Liam Puttergill at 1-6, 6-3, 0-2… In the fall, five of his 11 singles matches went three sets… Partnered with Chethan Swanson to reach the quarterfinals of the Kramer Classic in fall play… Also partnered with Andras Necz during the latter half of the dual season, posting a 3-3 record together at No. 3… Remainder of the spring dual season was canceled on Mar. 12 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
2018-19: ITA SCHOLAR-ATHLETE… In singles, competed mostly in the fall portion of the season, compiling a 5-16 overall record, and a 4-11 tournament record… Posted wins over Pacific, St. Mary’s, Sacramento State, and SMU in fall play… Recorded first career dual win over Sonoma State’s Alex Wong in a dominant 6-1, 6-3 match… Primary starter for the Aggies at No. 3 doubles with partner Chethan Swanson… The duo finished the year with a 4-6 record at No. 3, and 1-2 at No. 2 doubles… Clinched the program’s first doubles point win over No. 5 USC, winning 7-4 in the tiebreaker over Jake DeVine and Jake Sands… Also competed alongside Arjith Jayaraman in the fall tournaments, and compiled a 3-5 record together.
2017-18: Played mainly in fall portion of the season… Made an appearance once at No. 6 singles during the spring dual season… Finished with a 4-4 overall singles record, and a 1-0 overall doubles record… Saw a two-match win streak at the Pacific Tiger Invitational after advancing to the singles consolation semifinal round… Only dual singles match went unfinished against Hawai'i... Partnered with Mitchell Iwahiro at No. 3 doubles against the Rainbow Warriors for first dual doubles win.
PALOS VERDES PENINSULA HS ’17: CIF Team semifinalist freshman year, earning the Super Freshman award… As a junior, won the CIF Southern Section Team Championships and Most Improved Player... Helped the Panthers win the CIF Southern Section Division I final against San Marino with a 7-4 win… No. 2 ranked singles player at Peninsula HS senior year… Advanced to a tournament semifinal, being a CIF Southern Section Team Finalist in his last season… 4-star recruit ranked 81st nationally and 18th in California according to TennisRecruiting.net (Aug. 25th, 2017)… Held an overall record of 28-11, including an 8-1 record against other 4-star recruits.
PERSONAL: Born in Torrance, Calif… Majoring in Economics… Parents are Susana and Hassan… Has a younger brother Emiliano… Proudest accomplishment is winning the CIF Championships with his team junior year… Career sports highlight was being a quarterfinalist at Lakewood National… His career plan is to open afterschool programs for underprivileged teens in inner cities… If he could play another sport at UC Davis, it would be soccer… Chose UC Davis because Coach Steidlmayer made him feel like a part of the team and the school.
