Former Aggie and Daly City, Calif., native Veronica Smart entered the UC Davis track and field coaching staff program as both the Director of Operations and assistant track and field coach in throws in the 2016 season, shortly after graduating from UC Davis in the winter of 2016 with a degree in Sociology.

In 2014, Smart competed her last season as an Aggie in the hammer and shot put events. Some of her highlights from her third lettered season included a top-10 spot on the Aggies’ all-time list in the shot and jumping to the No. 4 spot in the hammer throw after posting personal bests of 14.80m and 53.25, respectively. In shot put in specific, Smart took second at both the Cal Opener and Brutus Hamilton Open, and was also an NCAA West Prelim qualifier. For the hammer throw, she had the Aggies’ top five marks during the season, one of which was the winning throw at the annual Causeway Dual.

Prior to UC Davis, Smart graduated from Mercy High School in 2011.
