Also started at San Jose State on May 15 and threw a season-high 5.2 innings, giving up just two runs while striking out three... Struck out a season-high four batters in 5.0 innings of work at UC Riverside on Apr. 21... Finished with 5.23 ERA and a 2-3 record after giving up 19 earned runs on 33 hits in 32.2 innings of work... First win came on Apr. 14 against Pacific where he struck out three in 2.1 innings of work.
SANTA ANA COLLEGE: Selected as Orange Empire Conference Pitcher of the Year as a sophomore, helping Dons capture fifth straight league title... Posted 7-5 record with 3.21 ERA in 2011... Made All-OEC second team as a freshman... Finished 6-2 with 73.0 innings that year.
LA SERNA HS [apos]09: All-Del Rio League honoree in both baseball and football... Added DRL Pitcher of the Year accolades as a senior... Compiled 2.02 ERA with 70 strikeouts in 66.0 innings... Also an all-league honoree at DH, batting .369 with .516 on-base and .692 slugging... Passed for 2,050 yards as a senior to earn league MVP nod.
PERSONAL: Born in Whittier, Calif.... Majoring in organizational studies... Parents are Richard & Stephanie Burke... Middle child of a baseball family, along with brothers Matt (23) and Connor (19)... Rich pitched in the Kansas City Royals system, Connor was drafted by the Marlins in 2011, Matt played for Austin College.
