Biography

2024: Saw competition in five meets as an Aggie...Started strong with a personal record and a spot at fourth in the Davis recordbooks in the triple jump and fourth place finish at the Air Force Lindeman (11.81m, 38' 9")...Was seventh overall at the Indoor MPSF Championships in the triple jump (11.80m, 38' 8.75")...Had three top five finishes at the Aggie Open, including a personal best and third place in the long jump (5.63m, 18' 5.75"), and two fourth place finishes in the 4x100 (50.09) and triple jump (11.49m, 37' 8.5")

Southwestern College (2023): Amanda was injured during her second season at Southwestern College. 

Southwestern College (2022): In her freshman season with the Jaguars, Amanda won the 2022 State Championship for triple jump, posting a distance of 11.73m. She came in second place for long jump with a distance of 5.69m. 

OLYMPIAN HS '21: Amanda was on the track and field team for her junior and senior years of high school. She competed in both triple jump and long jump, posting a distance of 5.13m for the latter. 

PERSONAL: Amanda was raised in San Diego and has 3 siblings: Kayla Smith, Jennifer Smith, and Jacob Shaw. Her parents are Randy Shaw and Raquel Avelino, both of whom work in IT.

Growing up, Amanda competed in gymnastics with the South Bay YMCA Storm in Chula Vista for 11 years. In 2019, she earned YMCA Nationals Level 10 honors, placing 1st place in beam, floor, and all around. 

When asked why UC Davis, Amanda responded "I knew UC Davis Athletics would really help me reach my goals and excel as a person."
