Collingwood Anchors Defense as Aggies Drop Road Trip Finale at Yale

Box Score Score: UC Davis 0, Yale 3
Location: New Haven, Conn. (Johnson Field)
Record: UC Davis 2-4, Yale 4-0

NEW HAVEN, Conn. — Addy Collingwood anchored the UC Davis field hockey defense with a career-high-tying eight saves, but it wasn't enough as the Aggies fell short in a 3-0 loss at Yale to close the road weekend.

PITCH SIDE
  • Addy Collingwood stood as the defensive backbone for the Aggies, matching her career high with eight saves to keep UC Davis battling in cage.
  • Mia Edwards and Ella Franken led the attack with two shots on target apiece, with Edwards also recording a critical second-quarter defensive save.
  • Katie Kim added consistent pressure upfront, firing three shot attempts to spark the Aggies' offense across the final three quarters.
  • The Aggies built late pressure down the stretch, earning six total penalty corners and putting four shots on goal during second-half pushes.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Both defenses dictated the opening frame, with Collingwood making a key stop at the 6:05 mark off a Yale shot to keep the match scoreless through 15 minutes.
  • Yale turned up the offensive pressure in the second quarter, but Collingwood anchored the Aggie backline with three saves alongside a critical goal-line clearance from Edwards on a penalty corner sequence to hold off the Bulldogs until halftime.
  • The Bulldogs broke the deadlock early in the third quarter, taking a 1-0 lead on a strike from Victoria Collee just 31 seconds into the second half.
  • UC Davis responded immediately as Franken generated a quality attempt off a Tristen Stanimir penalty corner, forcing a defensive save from Yale's backline.
  • Yale capitalized on momentum later in the third frame, extending its lead to 3-0 with back-to-back penalty corner conversions from Issy Baileff in the 39th minute.
  • The Aggies continued to push into the fourth quarter, generating three consecutive shots on target from Edwards and Franken during back-to-back penalty corner opportunities, while Collingwood logged her eighth and final save of the afternoon before Yale secured the 3-0 decision.

UP NEXT: The Aggies return to Davis on Sunday, Sept. 20, hosting Northwestern at the Aggie Field Hockey Facility for an 11 a.m. PT matchup.
