Box Score Score: UC Davis 0, Northeastern 1
Location: Dedham, Mass. (Dedham Field)
Record: UC Davis 2-3, Northeastern 1-3

DEDHAM, Mass. — Opening its first road trip of the season, UC Davis field hockey fought through a tough defensive battle on Friday afternoon, falling just short in a 1-0 decision against Northeastern at Dedham Field.

PITCH SIDE
  • The Aggie attack brought relentless pressure throughout the afternoon, outshooting Northeastern 5-4 in shots on goal.
  • Addy Collingwood turned in another steady performance in goal, making three saves to keep UC Davis within striking distance.
  • UC Davis' penalty corner defense stood tall under pressure, turning away all three of the Huskies' penalty corner chances.
  • The Aggies pushed for an equalizer down the stretch, generating five penalty corner opportunities and putting late pressure on the Huskies' backline.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Northeastern took an early lead in the opening frame, forcing Collingwood into a save before converting a penalty stroke, with Camille Armaganian scoring the lone goal of the afternoon just six minutes into the first quarter.
  • The Aggies responded with heavy offensive pressure in the second quarter, building momentum through consecutive Molly Main penalty corners as Clare Torres forced a save and Ella Franken had two quality attempts blocked by the Huskies' defense.
  • Katie Kim nearly brought the match level mid-way through the second quarter, but a defensive save on the goal line kept the Huskies ahead 1-0 going into halftime.
  • UC Davis continued their battle after the break, outshooting the Huskies early in the third quarter as Main and Mia Edwards both forced saves from Northeastern goalkeeper Aiko Price.
  • Collingwood held the line on the other end, making a key third-quarter stop to keep it a one-goal game entering the final frame.
  • The Aggies made a final push for the equalizer late in the fourth, pulling Collingwood for an extra field player in the final three minutes and putting a late shot on target from Cosi Karleski in the 57th minute, but Northeastern held firm to seal the 1-0 decision.
UP NEXT: The Aggies wrap up their East Coast road trip weekend on Sunday, Sept. 13, traveling to Connecticut to face Yale for a 9 a.m. PT / 12 p.m. ET matchup.
