IRVINE, Calif. — Redshirt senior first baseman
Ethan Felix of UC Davis baseball has been named Big West Field Player of the Week after powering the Aggies to a three-game series sweep at Cal State Fullerton, the first such sweep in program history.
It marks the first career Big West weekly honor for Felix, and he becomes the first UC Davis player to earn Big West Field Player of the Week recognition since
Braydon Wooldridge on March 3, 2025.
Felix led the Aggies through the weekend, slashing .444 (4-for-9) with three home runs, nine RBIs and three runs scored across two starts at Goodwin Field. The Redondo Beach, Calif., native delivered a six-RBI performance Saturday that included a go-ahead grand slam in the top of the ninth to break a 5-5 tie, powering UC Davis to an 11-5 series-clinching victory. He followed it up on Sunday with a two-run home run in the second inning of a 6-2 sweep-completing win and finished the weekend with a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage at first base across 10 total chances.
The series sweep marked UC Davis's first three-game series victory at Cal State Fullerton in program history. The Aggies have now won five of their last six games, improving to 23-24 overall and 12-15 in Big West play.
UC Davis returns home to Phil Swimley Field at Dobbins Stadium for a Tuesday, May 5 midweek matchup with Sacramento State, with first pitch set for 6 p.m.
