THE SHORT STORY: UC Davis picked up its 20th win of the season with a 6-1 victory over ACC opponent California on Wednesday night at Stu Gordon Stadium, behind a strong two-way effort from
Braydon Wooldridge. Wooldridge took the ball as the starting pitcher and worked five innings of one-run ball with three strikeouts on 68 pitches to earn the win, his second of the season.
Tyler Howard's two-RBI triple highlighted a three-run fifth and
Kai Mault drove in two with a pair of RBI singles, while
Jaxon Murphy's solo home run in the fourth got the Aggies on the board. The victory marked UC Davis' first win over Cal in 16 years, dating back to the 2010 season.

LEADING OFF
- Wooldridge (2-1) earned the win on the mound, working five innings of three-hit, one-run ball with one walk and three strikeouts on 68 pitches
- Howard finished 2-for-5 with a two-RBI triple in the fifth and a run scored
- Mault went 2-for-4 with two RBIs on a pair of singles in the fifth and seventh
- Murphy launched a solo home run to right field in the fourth to tie the game 1-1
- Joey Wright reached base twice on two walks and scored two runs
- Peter Storjohann delivered two scoreless innings of relief with three strikeouts on 42 pitches
- Tyler Wood and Rowen Barnes combined to throw two scoreless innings, allowing no hits with one strikeout
HOW IT HAPPENED
- California struck first in the bottom of the first on Hideki Prather's solo home run to left field for a 1-0 lead.
- UC Davis answered in the top of the fourth when Murphy went deep to right field for a solo home run, tying the game at 1-1.
- The Aggies pulled in front with a three-run fifth: Wright walked, Story reached on a hit by pitch and both scored on Howard's two-RBI triple to left center, and Mault followed with an RBI single to bring home Howard for a 4-1 lead.
- UC Davis added two more in the seventh on Mault's RBI single that plated Wright, followed by a wild pitch that allowed Story to score from third for a 6-1 cushion.
- Wooldridge handed the ball off after five strong, and the Aggie bullpen took it the rest of the way. Wood worked a clean sixth, Storjohann delivered two scoreless innings with three strikeouts in the seventh and eighth, and Barnes closed out the ninth with a strikeout to lock it down.
