Â
LEADING OFF
- Grimes went five shutout innings, striking out six while walking just one over
- Sawai threw two innings of shutout relief, giving up no walks while throwing just 19 pitches

- Olivia McFarland added a 2-for-3 day of her own, knocking in two runs
- Gia Felice led the way at the top of the lineup, going 2-for-3 with one RBI and one walk drawn
HOW IT HAPPENED
- UC Davis opened the scoring in the second with a quick run thanks to Reeves hustling down the third base line on a stolen base attempt at second that gave the Aggies a 1-0 lead
- Grimes kept UC Riverside in check over the opening three frames, getting strikeouts in the second and third while sitting Riverside down in order over the first nine batters
- The Aggies scored a pair in the fourth to extend their lead, capped off by a Felice single that scored Panziera, making it 3-0 heading into the second half of the game
- In the fifth the Aggies opened things up for good, scoring three runs with the big blow being a two-RBI double to center off the bat of Panziera and after McFarland singled up the middle to bring home Panziera the Aggies had built out a 6-0 lead
- From there Grimes and Sawai finished things off, keeping UC Riverside off the board for the remainder of the game to lock in the Aggie 6-0 win in a weekend conference sweep.
