The short story: UC Davis softball battled hard, out hitting Saint Mary's on the road, but an explosive third inning by the Gaels would cost the Aggies in the midweek road game.
LEADING OFF
- Gia Felice and Sydney Polli each smacked a pair of hits with Felice leading off and Polli batting right behind
- Felice added two runs and a double, while Polli smacked a double of her own and drew a walk
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Aggies opened the scoring in the first inning, but their early 1-0 lead would only last until the second when Saint Mary's tied things up at 1-1
- In the bottom of the third, Saint Mary's scored five runs, using a three-run home run to open a five-run lead after the first three innings
- UC Davis put a little pressure on the Gaels in the seventh, scoring a run when Kaylin Phillips poked an RBI single through the left side that scored Felice
- But the deficit would be too much for the Aggies as Saint Mary's would hold on to take the game 6-2
