The Short Story: Wins in five of the six singles courts along with a doubles victory gave UC Davis women's tennis a win over Idaho State at home on Saturday, Mar. 28.
COURTSIDE
- The Aggies easily secured the doubles point with 6-3 and 6-2 wins over the Bengals.
- In singles, four of the five Davis wins were two game sweeps, including a dominant 6-0 second game from Vivian Gallaway in the third court to clinch the win.
- The only Aggie win to go to three was in court one with Polina Marakhtanova prevailing in a back-and-forth 7-6 win in the third.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Beginning the day in the doubles court, the duos of Marakhtanova/Ikemori and Hu/Wolfe each took home wins.
- Marakhtanova and Ikemori then moved to singles matches, where they would each give the Aggies wins to keep the team perfect.
- After Gallaway's clincher in the third court, Maya Youssef made it 5-0 UC Davis with a quick two game sweep.
- Aileena Hu began her match strong with a 6-1 first game, but would fall in the next two as Veronika Zarovna from Idaho State gave her team their only point of the day.
- Penelope Wong battled to a 6-4 win to cap off the sixth court, securing a 6-1 victory for her team.
