The short story: Washington State secured the doubles point and three singles victories to earn a 4-0 win over UC Davis women's tennis on Saturday at the Marya Welch Tennis Center. 

COURTSIDE

• UC Davis earned a win at No. 3 doubles, but Washington State captured courts one and two to take the doubles point.

• The Cougars clinched the dual with straight-set singles wins on courts one, four, and five.

• Several Aggies were in competitive matches when play was halted, including strong efforts at Nos. 2, 3, and 6 singles.

• UC Davis moved to 2-6 on the season, while Washington State improved to 3-1. 

HOW IT HAPPENED 

• Washington State opened the match by winning at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles by identical 6-4 scores, while Aileena Hu and Kaia Wolfe picked up a 6-3 victory at No. 3 doubles to close out doubles play.

• In singles, Eva Alvarez Sande earned a straight-set win at No. 1, followed by Martina Puvill and Chisato Kanemaki posting wins at Nos. 4 and 5 to clinch the dual for the Cougars.

• Polina Marakhtanova and Maya Youssef were locked in competitive unfinished matches at Nos. 2 and 3 singles, while Kaia Wolfe took the first set and was leading in the second at No. 6 when play was stopped.
