OPENING TIP
  • Ryann Bennett led the scoring for the third straight contest with 20 points, marking the fifth time this season she's gone for 20+ in a game.
  • Bennett was also effective in other facets of the game, including swiping two steals and dealing four assists.
  • Avery Sussex served as the deep threat with three made treys on the afternoon.

  • Defensively, Megan Norris pulled down 15 rebounds, the ninth time she's grabbed 15 or more boards in a contest.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • After the Mustangs broke the seal on the game, Bennett got her first two of the day on a jumper.
  • Nya Epps and Victoria Baker responded to each Cal Poly basket with field goals of their own, including a three from Baker that gave the Aggies a 10-9 lead eight minutes into the game.
  • Norris finished the quarter with her first layup, but back-to-back layups from the Mustangs Charish Thompson gave the home team a 16-12 lead after one.
  • Leading off the second quarter, Sussex dropped in her first three to put her team back within one.
  • Despite another triple from Sussex and one from Norris, Cal Poly refused to relent, matching each Davis basket with one of their own to keep them in the lead.
  • With the score tied at 25, the Aggies began to attack on both ends of the court, with Sussex's third three giving them a lead and one from Bennett extending that lead.
  • Cal Poly tried to regain momentum with a jump shot with one minute left in the half, but Sophie Lentfer's first bucket was the sixth made three of the quarter for her team, giving them a 34-27 advantage heading into halftime.
  • Coming out of the half, the back and forth affair continued with Cal Poly getting within one, 36-35, on an 8-2 run.
  • Epps and Bennett responded to the run with back-to-back threes, pushing the lead back to seven.
  • As the defense came to life on both ends, the Mustangs slowly climbed back to tie things up at 42 apiece with less than a minute left in the third.
  • A free throw from Norris and turnaround jumper from Bennett closed out the period with the Aggies up 45-42.
  • With one minute remaining in the fourth and the road team up by three, Cal Poly cashed in on a free throw and layup to tie the game at 55.
  • Coming out of a timeout, Tegan Young squared up a three for her first make of the day to give her team a three point lead with just seconds remaining.
  • After a defensive stop and made Bennett free throw, the final buzzer indicated a hard fought 59-55 win for the Aggies over the Mustangs.
