STOCKTON, Calif. — The UC Davis swim and dive program began its 2026-27 regular season Saturday with all 24 swimmers on its roster competing Saturday on the second day of the two-day PAC Invite hosted by Pacific at the Douglass M Eberhardt Aquatics Center. The Aggies did not take part in Friday's opening day of the event.
"This was a nice way to open our season at a meet we haven't attended in the past," head coach Matt Macedo said. "We were able to identify areas of strength such as putting multiple races together in a short time, and also areas we need to be better such as relay exchanges and trusting our speed in the front half of races. We are looking forward to building on today as we prepare to face a tough Nevada team next week in our home opener."
The most notable Aggie performances Saturday included freshman Madison McCormick's fourth-place 100 IM finish in a time of 59.51 that ranks her 10th on the Aggies' all-time list of top performers in the event. Freshman Illiana Foth had the highest individual finish by an Aggie swimmer with a third-place showing in the 200 breast (2:23.50), while senior Ella Palmer was fifth in the 200 back (2:06.60). Gabrielle Kleman also made her collegiate debut just two spots behind McCormick in sixth in the 100 IM (59.79), while freshman Ciara Looney (12th, 52.72) and junior Leinaala Wong (17th, 53.18) were in the top half of 41 swimmers who competed in the 100 free.
Host Pacific swept the men's and women's standings with 1,143 points and 861 points. The remainder of the men's standings included second-place UC Santa Barbara (968) followed by Cal State Bakersfield (540.5), Saint Mary's (370.5) and Stanford (127). UC Santa Barbara was also second (777) in the final women's results followed by Cal State Bakersfield (722), Saint Mary's (360), UC Davis (342) and Stanford (121).
UC Davis will host Nevada at Schall Aquatics Center in a dual meet to open its 2026-27 home schedule on Friday, Oct. 9 (1 pm) with both the swimmers and divers competing.
