HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Aggies opened the morning with doubles, where Sam De Vries and Rithvik Katpelly finished first, taking down their opponent 6-2. 

• Next to finish were Ryan Torres and Ivan Savkin, who lost to their opponents 6-4. 

• Last to finish doubles were Lucas Bollinger and Kaveh Taheri, who defeated their opponents and gave the Ags the early lead. 

• The Aggies started singles off strong with a win from freshman Katpelly, who took down his opponent in just two sets. 

• Fellow freshman Kaveh Taheri followed with a win against his opponent after two sets. 

• With the score at 3-0, Perry DiGiulio was the first to fall in two sets, giving the Anteaters their first point of the match. 

• Next to fall would be senior Torres, who went down in just two sets. 

• Fellow senior De Vries struggles to find his footing during his match and lost to his anteater opponent in two sets. 

• With the score tied at 3-3 and the championship final on the line, it was up to junior Bollinger to secure the last win for the Aggies. 

• Bollinger was the only Aggie to take his match to three sets, and after a hard fight, he was unable to come out with a win, giving UC Irvine the last point they needed to advance to the final.
