Teeing Off: Yu Bai birdied five holes on her way to shooting one under par to place second after the opening round of the Big West Championships to help power UC Davis women's golf to a second-place spot after 18 holes at the Spanish Trail Country Club.
 
IN THE CLUBHOUSE:

• The Aggies sit just three strokes back of leaders Cal State Fullerton heading into the second round
• Bai birded back-to-back holes at three and four, before going on to birdie six, 13 and 18 to wrap up her round under par
• Skyler May shot +2, getting birdies at six, 13 and 14 to sit ninth for the tournament
• Vani Karimanal matched May's day, shooting +2 with birdies at six, 13 and 14 to join her teammate tied for ninth
• Abby Leighton rounds out the Aggies inside the top 15, shooting +3 to sit 13th overall after scoring birdies at 10 and 17
