FIRST PITCH
- The left-hander worked eight innings, allowing two earned runs on 12 hits with no walks and three strikeouts
- UC Davis' lone run came in the eighth on Mark Wolbert's sacrifice fly, scoring Alex Gouveia
- The Aggies' defense stifled rallies early during Green's outing, turning four double plays throughout the night
- Tyler Howard paced UC Davis at the plate, finishing 1-for-3 with a walk, while Gouveia scored the team's only run
- UC Irvine's Jacob McCombs went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer and two RBIs before being ejected for an excessive bat flip
- Anteaters starter Riley Kelly tossed six scoreless innings, and reliever Ricky Ojeda earned his seventh win with two shutout frames
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After stranding six baserunners through seven, UC Irvine broke the deadlock on McCombs' two-run blast—though his emphatic bat toss drew an ejection from the umpiring crew
- Momentum for the Anteaters seemed to be halted in the bottom half of the inning when Gouveia scored on Wolbert's sac fly in the bottom half, cutting the deficit to 2-1
- The Anteaters however capitalized on an Aggie error, and added two unearned insurance runs in the ninth, sealing the 4-1 victory
UP NEXT: The Aggies and Anteaters resume their series Saturday at 6 p.m. as part of UC Davis' Picnic Day festivities, with free admission for all fans at Dobbins Stadium.
