The short story: In a tough home match, UC Davis women's tennis suffered a 6-1 loss to Cal Poly, with their only point coming from last week's Big West player of the week Mika Ikemori. 

COURTSIDE 

• The Mustangs took the early lead, grabbing the doubles point.  

• Sophomore Mika Ikemori won her singles match doubles match after two sets and a tiebreaker.   

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Aggies opened up the morning with doubles where Solia Valentine and Polina Marakhtanova finished first falling to their cal Poly opponents early. 

• Next to finish was the pair of Claire Glerkin and Kaia Wolfe who also fell, losing the doubles point for the Aggies, scoring 1-0 Mustangs. 

• The match of Daisy Maunupau and Ikemori went unfinished since the Mustangs had already clinched the doubles point. 

• The first two Aggies to finish in singles were Daisy Maunupau and Maya Youssef who fell decisively to their opponents in two sets. 

• Two more Aggies fall. Marakhtanova and freshman Penelope Wong would also lose to their opponents in two sets each. 

• Graduate student Valentine would put up a great fight against her opponent taking her to a tiebreaker in the second set, but could not fend her off. 

• Last to finish in singles was last week's Big West player of the week sophomore Mika Ikemori. Ikemori took her opponent to two sets and a tiebreaker before ultimately grabbing one point for the Aggies against Cal Poly.
