WHAT HEAD COACH JENNIFER GROSS HAD TO SAY
"Today was a rough day offensively for us. We did some good things defensively, and we need to continue to celebrate the things we're doing well. We're better than what we showed today. Credit to Northern Colorado, they're a very solid team, and we knew that coming in. They're tough, they're physical, they play a different style that challenged us, and we didn't rise to the occasion today."
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Two minutes into the contest, Sussex drew first blood with a layup inside.
- After the Bears got ahead with a 6-0 run, Nya Epps got on the board with a three.
- Bennett cashed in a three of her own late in the quarter, but the Aggies ended the first down 8-16.
- In the second, Sussex led with five points on a trey and a pair of free throws.
- The Aggies got within eight points two separate times on buckets from Theoni Tsami and Victoria Baker, entering halftime with the score reading 20-28 for the home team.
- Coming out of the locker room, the Aggies continued to fight, using a Bennett layup to cut the deficit to six halfway through the third period.
- But an 8-1 run through the next three minutes extended the road team's lead back up to 13, with Northern Colorado entering the fourth quarter with a 46-34 lead.
- Tegan Young got on the board with a three to open the fourth quarter.
