DAVIS, Calif. — UC Davis announced its 2026 baseball schedule Friday, marking the Aggies' final campaign in the Big West Conference before joining the Mountain West for the 2027 season.
The schedule features a challenging nonconference slate highlighted by a sentimental season opener at Texas, a high-profile midweek clash at Stanford and a full Big West Conference docket.
The Aggies kick off the season with an eight-game road swing, beginning Feb. 13-15 in Austin against the Longhorns. The series marks a significant homecoming for UC Davis head coach Tommy Nicholson, a two-time team MVP for Texas who helped lead the Longhorns to the 2000 College World Series. Nicholson also launched his coaching career at his alma mater, working as a volunteer assistant from 2009-10 and later as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator from 2013-16.
Following the trip to Austin, the opening road stretch continues with visits to San Francisco, Santa Clara and Cal.
The Aggies open their home slate Feb. 25 against Cal at Phil Swimley Field at Dobbins Stadium. UC Davis then hosts Nevada for a three-game series from Feb. 27-March 1. Following the series against the Wolf Pack, the Aggies hit the road for a matchup at Saint Mary's on March 3.
Big West Conference play begins March 6 with a road series at UC Riverside. The Aggies' first conference home series follows March 13-15 against UC Santa Barbara.
The nonconference schedule remains rigorous into the spring, highlighted by an April 27 trip to Stanford. The matchup represents another return to familiar territory for Nicholson, who served as an assistant coach for the Cardinal for four seasons prior to taking the helm at UC Davis.
Additional nonconference highlights include a home-and-home Causeway series against Sacramento State (April 21 at home, May 5 away) and midweek contests against Pacific and Fresno State.
Big West home series include UC San Diego, Cal State Bakersfield, Long Beach State and Hawai'i. Conference road trips will take UC Davis to Cal Poly, UC Irvine, CSUN and Cal State Fullerton, in addition to the league opener at Riverside.
The 2026 season represents another step forward under Nicholson, who enters his fifth season leading the program. UC Davis has shown steady progress during his tenure, improving from six wins in 2022 to 17 in 2023, followed by a 29-win campaign in 2024. The Aggies continued that momentum in 2025 with 27 wins, establishing consistent competitiveness within the Big West.
The regular season concludes with a three-game nonconference series against CBU from May 13-15 at Dobbins Stadium. Postseason play follows shortly after at the 2026 Big West Baseball Championship, scheduled for May 20-24 at Cicerone Field at Anteater Ballpark in Irvine, California.
