UC Davis Baseball Announces 2025 Schedule, Featuring First Games Under Lights in Davis

DAVIS, Calif. — The UC Davis baseball program on Wednesday officially announced its schedule for the 2025 season. The 56-game slate for the regular season features 28 home contests at Phil Swimley Field, including seven straight to begin the season in Davis.

As part of this early season home stand, UC Davis will open the 2025 season the weekend of Feb. 14-16 with a three-game set against Gonzaga, with action being played under lights for the first time in program history on the team's home field.

Weekend series times at Phil Swimley Field are tentatively set for 6 p.m. PT on Fridays, 2 p.m. PT on Saturdays, and 1 p.m. PT on Sundays.

"The addition of lights to Phil Swimley Field is exciting for everyone in and around our program. Players past and present have envisioned playing night games in Davis for a long time. Thanks to Rocko and his staff, we are finally able to see this vision come to fruition. I think night games will give the community and student body a chance to come out and create one of the best college baseball atmospheres in the Big West and a home field advantage for our team," said UC Davis head coach Tommy Nicholson.

Along with new state-of-the-art lights allowing for night games for the first time ever in Davis, the addition of a brand-new video board in right center field will enhance the game day experience for both players and fans alike.

The list of opponents UC Davis is scheduled to host under the lights includes Gonzaga, Santa Clara, San Francisco, UC Riverside, Nevada, Cal Poly, UC Irvine, Washington State, Cal State Fullerton, Utah Tech, Northridge, and, of course, Causeway rivals Sacramento State.

In addition to the team's home games, the Aggies will play two highly anticipated games against Stanford in Palo Alto on April 7 and April 21.

After the seven-game home stand to begin the season, the Aggies' first road test is a midweek matchup against Pacific in Stockton on Tuesday, Feb. 25. The first road series for UC Davis will be when the squad travels to Utah Valley from Feb. 28 through March 2. This will be the third consecutive season in which the Aggies and Wolverines will face off, with UC Davis traveling to Utah for the first time after hosting the Wolverines for the past two years.

One of the most exciting trips for the Aggies will be their series against Creighton in Omaha, Neb. UC Davis will face the Bluejays from March 7 to March 9, with all action taking place at Charles Schwab Field Omaha, which annually hosts the College World Series in June.

Following this trip to the Midwest, UC Davis will host UC Riverside from March 14-16 at Phil Swimley Field for the first Big West series of the season.

The Aggies will then take their talents to the Aloha State to face Hawai'i in their first road Big West series of the season, playing the Rainbow Warriors from March 22-24.

The Aggies' full slate of road Big West games will also feature series at UC Santa Barbara (April 4-6), Bakersfield (April 17-19), Long Beach State (May 2-5), and UC San Diego (May 9-11).

Along with hosting the Highlanders to begin conference play, the Aggies will welcome Cal Poly (March 28-30), UC Irvine (April 11-13), and Cal State Fullerton (April 25-27). UC Davis will also honor its departing seniors during the weekend of May 15-17, when CSUN comes to visit for the final home series of the year.

Following the regular season, Cal State Fullerton's Goodwin Field will play host to the 2025 Big West Baseball Championship from May 21-25. Five teams will qualify for the championship, which features a play-in game before the final four teams clash in a double-elimination tournament. The winner of this postseason tournament will earn the conference's automatic berth into the 2025 NCAA Tournament.

NCAA Tournament action will commence with regionals from May 30-June 2 and super regionals from June 6-8. The 2025 College World Series will take place from June 13-23 at Charles Schwab Field Omaha in Omaha, Neb.
