The short story: In a fierce battle, UC Davis initially rallied after losing the early doubles point, tying the match in singles. However, the Aggies ultimately fell 3-4 to Eastern Washington, losing the decisive final singles match. 

COURTSIDE 

• Eastern Washington took the early lead grabbing the doubles point and beating the Ags 2-1. 

• Aggies Claire Galerkin and Kaia Wolfe were the lone doubles winners for the second match in a row for the Ags, beating their opponent out in an exciting game. 

• Aggies Solia Valentine, Polina Marakhtanova, and Claire Galerkin all secured singles wins getting three points for their team. 

• The Eagles grasped the singles tiebreaker making the final team score 3-4. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Aggies opened up the morning with doubles where sophomore Mika Ikemori and freshman Isabella Bringas' match concluded first. The duo couldn't pull through dropping their match to the Eagles. 

• The second doubles match to conclude was between Galerkin and Wolfe where they were able to fend off the Eagles in an exciting match grasping their second lone doubles win in a row. 

• Tied in doubles matches, it was up to Valentine and Marakhtanova to secure the doubles point for the Aggies. This pair fought hard, but ultimately, the point went to the Eagles. 

• On to singles, Valentine and Marakhtanova were the first to finish their matches both beating their opponents to grapes two team points for the Aggies. 

• Two Aggies would fall to the Eagles as Ikemori and first-year Maya Youseff finished their matches unable to take down their opponents making the team score 3-2. 

• Senior Claire Galekrin would tie the team score with her dominating performance beating out her Eagle opponent. 

• The tie-breaker came down to Bringas' singles match, where she unfortunately wasn't able to fend off her Eagle opponent giving Eastern Washington the final point they needed to win.
