The short story: UC Davis made history at the Ptarmigan Classic, securing the first win of interim head coach Amelia Hicks' career. Elina Kuang set a school record with a round low during day one, while Abby Leighton capped off the week tied for first place with a career-best 11-under par. The Aggies finished the tournament at a remarkable 21-under par as a team, one of only two teams to finish under par for the week.
 
FIRST TEE

• Leighton, the senior from Santa Rosa, Calif., was dialed in all week, securing her second career win by firing rounds of 69-70-66 for a career tournament low of 11-under
• Behind Leighton, the Aggies combined to shoot 21-under en route to a team title
• Four different Aggies: Leighton, Kuang, Lauren Calderon, and Skyler May all were within the top 20 of the individual leaderboard
• Kuang's 64, 8-under, is tied for the second-lowest single round in Ptarmigan Classic history
• Kuang rounded out her week with totals of 64-73-75
• Calderon, one of UC Davis' second-team All-Big West selections from a season ago, finished the week just outside the top 10, tying for 12th after firing rounds of 72-70-71
• May and Karimanal rounded out the Aggies' scoring with May finishing just inside the top 20, tying for 19th, while Karimanal tied for 37th
• UC Davis' 277 round one score tied for 6th in the tournament's history
• Following behind the Aggies in the standings were Cal Poly (-12), Colorado State (+1), Grand Canyon (+2), and Colorado (+3) to round out the top five

• Kuang cements herself within the Aggie record books, posting the program single-round low with a 64, 8-under, breaking Andrea Wong's previous record of 65, 6-under
• The co-win for Leighton gives her two wins in her Aggie career and marks her 13th time as the top Aggie finisher in a tournament
• Leighton also now adds to UC Davis' program individual win list, making it the 26th time an Aggie has won
• The win was UC Davis' second ever at the Ptarmigan Classic, with the last Aggies win coming in 2011 when Demi Runas took the top spot for UC Davis in the tournament, making Leighton and Runas UC Davis' two winners in the tournament's history
