The short story: Emma Vane opened the scoring for the Aggies early in the match, but the host Rainbow Wahine quickly equalized just seconds later. They then secured a 2-1 victory by converting a penalty kick, ultimately ending UC Davis' four-game winning streak in the Big West opener on Friday night at Waipio Peninsula Soccer Stadium.

- Among UC Davis' shots, eight were on target, with Vane's goal in the 10th minute being the only one to find the back of the net
- To the Rainbow Wahine's credit, freshman goalkeeper Justin Kennedy tied her second-highest save total of the season, denying seven Aggie shots on the night

HOW IT HAPPENED
- UC Davis started the game strong, scoring in the 10th minute with Vane striking it home with her right foot from the edge of the box
- Hawai'i answered immediately, scoring less than a minute later to equalize at 1-1
- The score remained tied at 1-1 heading into the halftime break
- That changed in the 51st minute when the Rainbow Wahine earned a penalty kick after a replay review and converted to take a 2-1 lead
- UC Davis attempted to mount a counterattack, but Kennedy in goal for the Rainbow Wahine collected six saves during the half, helping Hawai'i hold on to the 2-1 win to open conference play
