The short story: The Aggies had an exciting win this afternoon taking down no. 2 seed CSUN, for the second time this season. UC Davis dominated over their opponents winning 4-0 in a clean sweep of the competition at the Big West Women's Tennis Championship.
WHAT TO KNOW
- UC Davis secured the first point of the day thanks to doubles wins on court 1 and 2 from Arianna Stavropoulos & Mika Ikemori winning 6-4 and Daisy Maunupau & Olive Maunupau taking down their opponents 6-2
- Mika Ikemori put away the second point of the day for the Ags after a beautiful straight set win at court two
- Michelle Zell, helped to secure the Aggies win for the day after a huge win at court 4 battling back from a first set loss to take it all
- Olive Maunupau helped lead her team to victory clinching the last singles match of the day, coming back from a second set loss to take it all in the third
HOW IT WENT DOWN
- Sister duo Olive and Daisy Maunupau put away the first doubles match of the day to help the Ags to secure the doubles point, taking down Luna Vict Santibaez and Cindy Ung 6-2
- Following right behind at court one was Arianna Stavropolous and Mika Ikemori who clinched the point with their 6-4 victory
- Keeping that momentum going into singles play Mika Ikemori was able to take her second win of the day with a straight set victory at court 2 over Yuliia Zhytelna 6-2, 7-5, to put the Aggies at 2-0
- Olive Maunupau was next to put away her second win of the day where she pulled out a third set victory over Elena Goodman with a final score of 6-2, 4-6, 6-3
- The final Aggie to clinch the match was Michelle Zell who battled it out at court 4 to put the Ags over the top, she managed a 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 win after her first set loss ultimately clinching the match for her team
