FULLERTON, Calif. — The UC Davis women's water polo team took care of business in their final game of the regular season, trouncing Cal State Fullerton, 14-3 on Saturday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Aggies built an early 3-1 lead in the first quarter on the back of two goals from Tess Fundter, and a Chelsea Johnson goal. Fullerton scored their second goal of the day to open the second quarter, but the Aggies steadied the ship, scoring the next two goals.
The Titans scored their third and final goal of the game midway through the second quarter before the Aggies closed the half on a 3-0 run to lead 8-3.
The Aggies scored three more goals in each of the next two quarters. Fundter finished off a hat trick in the third quarter, and Johnson, Sam Yoo and Grace Pelkey each scored to finish the game with two goals apiece.
Pelkey's two scores push her into triple digits for her career, with 100 goals.
In goal, Nellie McAdams made nine saves and had a steal.
UP NEXT
The Aggies finish the regular season as the seventh seed in the Big West with a 2-5 conference record and 10-17 overall. UC Davis will square off against second seed UC Irvine for the fourth time this season in the first round of the Big West Tournament. That game will take place Friday, Apr. 26 at 2:30 p.m.
