The short story: UC Davis finished the Fresno State Classic in 13
th place with
Vani Karimanal's 1-under, 71 leading the pack in the third and final round. During day one, UC Davis got off to a strong start with
Abby Leighton standing out in an Aggie ensemble that boasted four athletes ranked among the top-50 following the initial day of competition. At the conclusion, three Aggies ultimately finished within the top-50 as the Aggies competed in the ultra-competitive field.
FINAL TEE BOX (DAY TWO)
- Karimanal finished as the top Aggie at 5-over for the entirety of the tournament
- Karimanal carded three birdies to fuel her 1-under round, and her seven birdies were most among Aggies during the whole tournament
- Lauren Calderon carded a 2-over 74 with three birdies, including a pair of back-to-back on holes 15 and 16
- Skyler May, and Abby Leighton rounded out the trio of Aggies within the top-50 as the pair both tied for 44th
- Marina Mata finished the tournament tied for 97th
FIRST TEE (DAY ONE)
- The former All-Big West First Team selection found her groove in Fresno, leading UC Davis with a 5-over during two rounds of play
- Leighton carded four birdies on the day, collecting an impressive three of them during her first 18 hole round of the day in which she shot a 1-over, 73
- After round one, the Aggies found themselves in 10th place, but they would ultimately end the day tied for 13th with fellow Big West foes, UC Riverside
- Skyler May, Vani Karimanal, and Lauren Calderon all battled and find themselves as the other three Aggies within the top-50
- May and Karimanal are tied for 41st after day one with Calderon tied for 50th
- Marina Mata rounded out the Aggie lineup as she is tied for 97th
- Dealing with darkness, play during round two was suspended and the field will finish round two with a shotgun start tomorrow and continue play into round three right after
