UC Davis Places Second at the MPSF Championship

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The Aggies competed today at the annual Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships hosted by Sacramento State, coming in the second overall spot with a 196.525 narrowly missing the top mark. The Aggies had two event wins from your Specialist of the Year Keanna Abraham on floor as well as Amelia Moneymaker, 2023 Freshman of the Year who ties for the top mark on beam. Competing was conference opponents Southern Utah, Alaska Anchorage, Sacramento State, and your very own UC Davis Aggies.
 
The Aggies began the competition on bars with an incredible show. Emma Otsu scored a solid 9.800 to start the Ags off. Marisa Laird and Jadyn Wakita both saw scores of 9.775 to help the Aggies to their team total of 49.200 tying the Ags current second place team record for scores on bars. Isabella Fitz-Gerald had an amazing bars performance with an incredible Aggie-Stick that landed her a 9.900 tying her career best score. Amelia Moneymaker continued the trend of the evening and pulled out a 9.850 worthy routine. Milla Gideon rounded off the lineup tying her personal best as well with a strong 9.875.
 
UC Davis moved onto beam in the second rotation of the afternoon. Ava Scafani kicked it off for the Ags with a great first routine solidifying the Ags confidence scoring a 9.800. Senior Marisa Laird followed suit with a final dance, sticking her landing and earning a 9.850 setting a new career record. Keanna Abraham tied Laird's score of 9.850 helping in securing the teams overall score of 49.225, tying for the Ags fourth ever highest score. Emma Otsu saw to a flawless finish with her score of 9.825. Amelia Moneymaker was the high scorer for the Ags and set a new personal best with a 9.900.
 
The Ags kept up the momentum into the third rotation of the afternoon, floor. Otsu scored a 9.775 for the Aggies with Nandhini Senthil following just behind with a 9.650. Moneymaker had a solid routine and pulled in a 9.750 for the team. Keanna Abraham tied her season high of 9.925 on floor taking the top spot overall. Megan Ray had the second highest score for the Aggies with her score of 9.850.
 
The Aggies headed into the fourth rotation prepared to conquer vault. Fitz-Gerald kicked off the event with a 9.500 for her first vault appearance of the season. Wakita had a great vault securing a 9.750 tying her career best. Otsu set her sights out on a great performance and did just that landing a 9.875. Ray followed suit tying her teammates score of 9.875. Abraham rounded out the lineup with the third tie of 9.875 for the Aggies.
