SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Ryan Lee collected two hits on the day, but it was the pitching staff of Santa Clara comprised of Senior Cade Pilchard, junior Josh Johnson and sophomore Sebastian Schreiber who combined to throw a shutout on Sunday as the Santa Clara Broncos blanked the UC Davis Aggies 7-0.
Freshman
Mason Lerma (0-2) delivered his longest outing of the season, going 4.1 innings of work, walking just one Bronco while also recording one strikeout. From the bullpen, senior
Kaden Riccomini was able to record a clean frame, going one shutout inning without allowing a hit during the bottom of the eighth for UC Davis (8-7).
Lee led the way offensively for the Aggies, going 2-for-4 in the ballgame with a double. This was Lee's second consecutive start at first base and for the second consecutive game he put forth a 2-for-4 effort at the dish. He was the lone Aggie today to record a multi-hit game.
HOW IT HAPPENED
UC Davis managed one chance with runners on third in the shutout, but were unable to break through with a run producing hit. The Aggies last got a runner on third in the fifth, when senior
Nick Iverson made it 90 feet away from scoring with one out. In the top of the ninth, Iverson and Wolbert would record two straight singles with two outs but it was too late into the ballgame as the Broncos closed out with the series win.
