MISSION VIEJO, Calif. — The UC Davis diving team collected 187 points this week at the 2024 MPSF Diving Championships in Southern California, which places the Aggies in second out of 10 programs vying for MPSF supremacy. The UC Davis swim team takes over next week looking to move into the top spot and take home the MPSF Championships at next week's MPSF Swimming Championships in St. George, Utah. 

Leila Busch led the way for the Aggies, placing in the top five in all three diving events. Busch finished fourth in the 3-meter (255.30), and fifth in the 1-meter (230.90) and platform dives (190.55).

Mackenzie Young notched top five scores in the 3-meter (257.90) and 1-meter dives (232.60). Priscilla Nguyen finished eighth in the 3-meter (232.15) and seventh in the 1-meter dive (229.50), while Taylor Schwarz had a top-eight finish in the 3-meter dive (234.35).

Karina Giacomazza had a strong finish to the competition in platform diving, placing sixth with a score of 182.15. Talia Mickelsen logged a top-eight finish in 1-meter diving (199.50).

In total, UC Davis earned points on 21 dives, with 11 top-eight scores and 10 top-16 scores and will enter next week's swim competition trailing only Hawai'i in the MPSF Championships point tally.

The 2024 MPSF Swimming Championships begin on Wednesday, Feb. 21 and will conclude on Saturday, Feb. 24.
