DAVIS, Calif. -- UC Davis was unable to get things offensively and Sacramento State took advantage, grabbing a 4-1 victory in the final game of the NorCal Kickoff hosted at La Rue Field.

Caroline Grimes got the ball to start for UC Davis (2-2) and took the loss. Kenedi Brown was a bright spot for the Aggies, coming out of the bullpen and throwing two shutout innings, allowing one hit, with two walks and one strikeout.

Libbie McMahan led the way offensively for the Aggies, going 1-for-3 in the ballgame with an RBI and Bella Holtz extended her hitting streak to three games following her 1-for-3 day.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Sacramento State struck first when Lewa Day launched a three-run home run in the top of first, giving the visitors an early lead.

UC Davis answered with a run in the bottom of the third when an RBI single from McMahan, scored Anna Dethlefson from second base. The Aggies were unable to get any closer, as Sacramento State added one run to their tally on the way to a 4-1 final.

GAME NOTES
» UC Davis pitchers faced 32 Sacramento State hitters in the game, allowing 10 ground balls and eight fly balls while striking out two.
» McMahan led the Aggies at the plate, going 1-for-3 with an RBI.
» Sacramento State was led offensively by senior Lewa Day, who went 2-for-3 with a double, a home run and three RBI.
» Junior Caroline Evans led the Hornets pitching staff, throwing seven innings of one-run ball.

UP NEXT
The Ags head south of the border for the Puerto Vallarta College Challenge beginning on Feb. 15 with a contest against Auburn. First pitch is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. (PT).
