Aggies Lasso the Gauchos to Continue Big West Win Streak

The Short Story: A slew of Aggies played big roles in today's game versus the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos, resulting in their second conference win of the season and remaining undefeated in Big West Play.
 
OPENING TIP
  • Senior Tova Sabel led the Aggies in points with 13 on the match, also collecting seven rebounds
  • Senior Sydney Burns was not far behind, scoring 11 points and adding three assists to the stat sheet
  • Nya Epps led the team in assists with five on her record, also adding nine points to the score
  • The Ags had a dominating 9-0 run against the Gauchos on the match
  • The largest lead the Ags had on their Big West competitors was a 23-point differential
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Burns started the game off on a strong foot within the first minute of the game, netting a three-point jumper
  • After the Gauchos caught up to the Ags 5-4, Sabel broadened the gap with four points; made up of two free throws and a killer layup to make the score 9-4
  • Epps made sure the Ags had the last word in the first quarter with two made free throws
  • Sabel made a quarter-high of eight points in the second quarter, with two three-point buckets and a layup to the tally
  • Megan Norris and Mazatlan Harris also added to the scoreboard, boosting the Ags to a 13-point lead at halftime
  • The team had a strong defensive quarter versus the Gauchos, making six defensive rebounds
  • The Ags continued their fire throughout the fourth quarter, with Bria Shine coming in hottest once the buzzer began
  • Victoria Baker broke 70 for the Ags in the last minute of play, sealing the deal with four points; including one in the last twenty seconds of play.
  • Gauchos responded in the final ten, but it wasn't enough as the Ags surge past their opponents with a 72-50 final score.
