DAVIS, Calif. – The UC Davis men's basketball team has added Jalen Stokes for the 2025-26 academic year.
Stokes is a 6-foot-5 wing/guard from Oakland, Calif., and currently attends Dougherty Valley High School in San Ramon, Calif.
"It's a priority for UC Davis to recruit the best players in Northern California, and Jalen is one of the best," said Head Coach
Jim Les. "His size, versatility, and skill set are ideal for our system and will make him an impact player. We also love his competitive spirit and work ethic. Jalen will thrive in our high academic and high-achieving culture."
Stokes has had a decorated career to this point, scoring over 1,000 career points and earning several top recognitions within Northern California.
As a junior at Dublin High School during the 2023-24 season, he averaged more than 20 points and eight rebounds per game, helping lead his team to 24 victories and an appearance in the CIF North Coast Section Division 1 Finals.
For his efforts, he was named first team All-Bay Area by the Bay Area News Group, first team All-Metro by the San Francisco Chronicle, first team All-EBAL, first team All-North Coast Section, and also earned a spot on the All-Tournament Team at The Classic at Damien.
Additionally, Stokes was named a North Coast Section (NCS) Scholar-Athlete, an accolade bestowed upon NCS student-athletes that reach high levels of achievement in the classroom while participating in varsity sports.
Stokes played club basketball with Team Lillard Adidas 3SSB, based out of Oakland, Calif. Sponsored by NBA All-Star Damian Lillard, Team Lillard competes on the Adidas 3SSB circuit, one of the most prestigious and competitive travel ball leagues in the country.
Playing against All-Americans and with teammates headed to play in the SEC, Mountain West, and WCC, Stokes emerged as one of Team Lillard's leading scorers and rebounders during the 2024 Adidas 3SSB season.
"I'm excited to be officially a part of the Aggie family," Stokes said.
Stokes is the first announced signee to UC Davis' class.
