UC Davis to Host the 2027 NCAA Men's Water Polo Championships

DAVIS, Calif. – For the first time since 2006 at the NCAA National Women's Water Polo Championships and only the third time in history, Schaal Aquatics Center will play host to the NCAA National Men's Water Polo Championships, welcoming the nation's best to Davis in 2027.

"We are extremely proud of our water polo programs and the Schaal Aquatics facility," said UC Davis Director of Athletics Rocko DeLuca. "Hosting our first NCAA Championship since 2006 will allow us to once again showcase our Top 10 public University and all UC Davis Athletics has to offer on the national stage."

Already a hosting venue, playing home to the 2024 Big West Men's Water Polo Tournament, Schaal Aquatics Center made its debut onto campus in 2003 and has already seen high-level action in its history. In the past, Davis hosted the 2005 United States Men's Water Polo Championships and in the 2004-05 seasons, the pool was used for the Western Water Polo Association Championships for both the men's and women's teams.

The pool was dubbed the Schaal Aquatics Center on April 21, 1998 after former Aggie alumni and swimmer Rand Schaal made a very generous $1.4 million donation to the school, which translated into $1 million of it going towards the construction of the facility. Thanks to Schaal and his goodwill, hundreds of athletes have had an improved athletic experience at UC Davis.
